701 million people in the world live without clean water.
That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide equivalent to twice the population of the United States. Most live in remote rural areas, spending hours each day fetching water for their families. This burden keeps children out of school and prevents parents from earning a living, while the water they collect is often contaminated, causing illnesses that affect the whole family.

Every day, women and girls around the world spend an estimated 200 million hours collecting water.
